Girl child - poetry
Wake up and smell the coffee girl!
Be the salt of the earth.
Be the light of the earth.
Light under a bushel is not seen,
Spread your wings and fly high.
Equal rights are here to stay.
Intelligence counts more than gender.
Stand tall my daughter, it could be all yours.
The world is now a better place.
A world of equal opportunities, a world of gender balance.
Take charge of your life, be in control.
Follow your heart, you're the cream of the crop.
The horizon is full of promise.
Stand tall my daughter , it could be all yours.
Gone are the days of male supremacy.
Gone are the days of forced marriages.
Gone are the days of genital mutilation.
Gone are the days of treating girls as cannon fodder.
Say no, to oppressive traditions.
Say no, to marrying a man twice your age.
Say no, to be denied an education.
Don't be a doubting Thomas.
Stand tall my daughter,it could be all yours.
Say no, to being used as a baby producing - machine.
Say no, to rape and abuse, say no,to unsafe sex and cheap labor.
Cursed is the belief that sleeping with a virgin girl cures AIDS.
Barbaric is the culture of arranged marriages.
Ungodly is the tradition of using girls as a source of income.
Stand tall my daughter,it could be all yours.
Break the chains of oppression, break the chains of poverty.
Human rights are here to stay, equal rights are forever too.
Break the barriers and land on Mars.
The sky is the limit, be a shining star.
Beauty and brains, must make you tick.
Beauty and brains makes you dad's girl.
Taste success whilst the sun shines.
Stand tall my daughter it could be all yours.
Brains and perseverance are the recipe for success.
Climb the ladder of success without fear, men must feel the heat.
Be on the move to stardom and fame, my angel.
Break the cultural taboo of treating girls as commodities.
Show them that a girl can do it too, prove them wrong.
Show them you can conquer Mount Everest.
Stand tall my daughter,it could be all yours.
Run, run the door to success is ajar.
Push and pull, the race to success is winnable.
Like egrets in the marsh, I will guard you jealously.
Show them that your place is no longer in the kitchen.
Educating a girl is not obscene, go girl!
If you educate a girl, you educate the nation.
The ball is in your court, go for it.
Stand tall my daughter, it could be all yours.
